ZGiRLS Announces “If She Can See It, She Can Be It” Giving Campaign To Empower More Girls With Confidence Skills

BELLEVUE, Wash., November 22, 2023 -- ZGiRLS, a trailblazing non-profit organization dedicated to empowering middle school girls, announced today it will use Giving Tuesday (November 28) to kick off its 2023 End-of-Year Giving Campaign: If She Can See It, She Can Be It. The non-profit set a $25,000 fundraising goal that will be used to expand critical programming resources in 2024.

ZGiRLS teaches girls, ages 11-14, the skills they need to face adversity, maintain healthy peer relationships, and protect their mental health. The organization’s flagship offering is the ZGiRLS Confidence Program, a four-week online program that combines the mentorship of professional and Olympic female athletes with the psychologist-developed ZGiRLS Curriculum™.

In 2023, ZGiRLS served more than 1,300 girls across 23 states and awarded program scholarships to 80% of participants.

"ZGiRLS' innovative approach empowers girls to foster resilience and self-assurance, laying a strong foundation for their future successes," said Dr. Kirsten Cooper, sport psychologist and a ZGiRLS mentor. "It provides an environment of true belonging that we all need, particularly as women, to encourage one another in a way that is saving lives and changing the world for the better.”

Recent data shows a mental health crisis among girls during puberty: Nearly 60% of teen girls reported persistent sadness or hopelessness, and 70% believed that they were not good enough (CDC).

Exit surveys from the latest ZGiRLS program showed a 114% increase in participants reporting “I feel confident in my ability to handle problems and challenges,” as well as 78% of caretakers observing a noticeable increase in their child participant’s confidence.

“We’ve seen how our ZGiRLS Mentors, who are all successful athletes, unlock hidden potential in every girl by not only sharing their triumphs but also openly revealing their vulnerabilities and struggles,” said ZGiRLS Co-Founder & Executive Director, Jilyne Jarvis. “Our If She Can See It, She Can Be It campaign will show donors how that connection empowers girls to shatter glass ceilings and stop limiting themselves.”

The $25,000 fundraising goal will go directly to expanding programs including new volunteer mentor training, additional parent resources, expanded program capacity, and more scholarships available to ensure cost is never an issue for participants to access these transformative tools.
