ZGiRLS Foundation respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through our compliance with this Privacy Policy (“Policy”).
WHAT THIS PRIVACY POLICY COVERS
This Policy applies when you interact with us through our programs and our online properties, including our websites and our social media pages or handles (the “Services”). This Policy also applies anywhere it is linked. This Policy does not apply to third-party websites, mobile applications, or services that may link to our Services or may be linked from the Services. Please review the privacy policies on those websites and applications directly to understand their privacy practices.
This Policy may change from time to time. Your continued use of our website or services after we make changes is deemed to be acceptance of those changes, so please check the Policy periodically for updates.
INFORMATION COLLECTION
ZGiRLS collects personal information when you interact with our Services, such as when you make a charitable contribution to ZGiRLS. We collect information from you directly, from the devices you use to interact with us, and from third parties. We may combine information from the Services together and with other information we obtain from our business records. We may use and share information that we aggregate (compile to create statistics that cannot identify a particular individual) or de-identify (strip information of all unique identifiers such that it cannot be linked to a particular individual) at our discretion.
Information You Give Us
ZGiRLS collects information that Parents and Guardians (“you” and “your”) you provide to us when you contact us directly, submit User Contributions (as that term is defined in our Terms of Use), voluntarily share your camera or screen during online program participation, complete surveys, or interact with ZGiRLS online. Please note that the ZGiRLS Services are directed to parents and guardians of girls ages 11 to 16. We require that a parent or guardian be the one to register for our Services and require their permission regarding the collection and use of their children’s information. See “Children’s Privacy” below for more information.
We collect personal information from Parents and/or Guardians that may include contact information (e.g., name, email address, and telephone number), shipping address, emergency contacts, your legal relationship to a Participant, and any legal waivers you have completed on behalf of the Participant. You may also provide us with Participant personal information, which includes contact information (such as name, email, and phone number), ethnicity, date of birth, and current school. We may also collect audiovisual information from Parents, Guardians, and/or Participants when interacting with our online programs or through social media. This Policy will also apply to any other information that you submit to us.
Through our Scholarship Application, we may also collect information about any scholarships from other sports organizations, whether the Participant is eligible for any free or reduced lunch programs at school, your household income, number of members of your household, and information about how the scholarship would benefit your family.
To the extent that we receive protected health information about you or a Participant, that information is subject to electronic disclosure to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Information We Collect Automatically
ZGiRLS, and partners working on our behalf, may use log files, cookies, or other digital tracking technologies to collect some information automatically when you visit our website or use our Services. The information we collect automatically includes analytics information (such as how you reached our website), diagnostic information, location data, and information about the device you use to visit our website. ZGiRLS may also collect some information about how you interact with our websites and emails, including whether you open or click links contained in them.
Information We Collect from Other Sources
We may collect information about you from third party sources. If you are a Participant, we collect information about you from your Parent or Guardian as necessary for your participation in our Program or in order to receive a Scholarship. We may also receive information about you from other non-profit organizations. When you make a purchase through our online properties, we collect financial information about you from our payment processors.
HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
The personal information we collect is used by ZGiRLS to support our mission and provide our Services, such as confirming and tracking your order or registration; analyzing trends and statistics; and to inform you about new Services or special promotions. We may also use your information to offer you recommendations and tailor the Services to your preferences.
We also use your information to protect and secure our Services, assets, network, and business operations, and to detect, investigate, and prevent activities that may violate ZGiRLS’s policies or be fraudulent or illegal. Your information will also be used to comply with legal process, such as warrants, subpoenas, court orders, and lawful regulatory or law enforcement requests and to comply with applicable legal requirements.
INFORMATION SHARING & DISCLOSURE
ZGiRLS will disclose personal information about you to the following recipients: (1) donors when you give us permission (such as in connection with Scholarship Applications); (2) business partners or other non-profits to provide the Services you have requested; (3) service providers that we engage to perform specific business functions on behalf of ZGiRLS; (4) government entities or law enforcement when we respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, or other lawful requests; (5) other businesses in the context of a commercial transaction where our foundation is acquired or merges with another entity; (6) social media platforms where you interact with us on social media platforms or interact with any social media objects (for example, by clicking on a Facebook “like” button) on our online properties; or (7) to appropriate third parties when we find that your actions violate the ZGiRLS Terms of Use, any of our usage guidelines for specific products or services, or applicable law.
ZGiRLS does not sell, rent, or give your personal information to any commercial company for their own marketing purposes.
YOUR ABILITY TO EDIT & DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT INFORMATION & PREFERENCES
Email Unsubscribe: If you do not wish to receive marketing information from us or wish to opt out of future email promotions from us, please contact us. Please note that all promotional email messages you receive from us will include an option to opt out of future email communications.
Account Information: ZGiRLS gives you the ability to edit your account information and preferences at any time, including whether you want ZGiRLS to contact you about special promotions and news. You may request deletion of your ZGiRLS account by sending an email to info@zgirls.org. Please note that in some cases, we may need to retain some of your information and will not be able to deleted it upon request in order to comply with legal or other obligations or to enforce our rights or the rights of others.
Cookie Preferences: Most web browsers automatically accept cookies but, if you prefer, you can usually modify your browser setting to disable or reject cookies. If you delete your cookies or if you set your browser to decline cookies, some features of our website may not be available, work, or function as designed. You may also be able to opt out of or block tracking by interacting directly with the third-parties who conduct tracking through our website. The information collection and disclosure practices and the choices that we provide to you will continue to operate as described in this privacy policy regardless of whether a Do Not Track signal is received.
CHILDREN’S PRIVACY
ZGiRLS is committed to providing a safe, secure, and fun online experience for everyone who visits our site. The Services are intended for users aged thirteen and older. We are dedicated to safeguarding any personal information collected online and to helping parents and children have positive experiences on the internet. For this reason, we will never knowingly request or collect personal information from anyone under the age of 13 without getting prior permission from a parent or guardian. To that end, we request that no one under age 13 provide any personal information to us unless ZGiRLS has previously received permission from the child’s parent or guardian.
If we learn we have collected or received personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will use reasonable efforts to delete that information. If you believe we might have collected personal information from or about your child who is under 13 without a Parent’s or a Guardian’s consent, please contact us at info@zgirls.org. Parents and Guardians of children under 13 may prospectively revoke their consent for ZGiRLS to collect personal information from their child, ask that personal information about their child be deleted from the site, and/or review personal information collected from their child by contacting us by email at info@zgirls.org, please include “Children’s Privacy Request” in the subject line. To comply with these requests, we must verify the identity of the requesting Parent or Guardian and may request additional information to do so.
LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES, SOCIAL NETWORKS, & SERVICES
We reserve the right to delete any submissions that engage in unlawful, illegal, unethical, discriminatory, disruptive, threatening, or offensive activity or practice. If any user is found violating local or national laws or policies, the offending user may be removed or blocked from access to the site or sites. Additionally, we may report unlawful, illegal, or threatening activity or practice to law enforcement agencies, as appropriate.
SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION
We use a combination of physical, technical, and administrative safeguards to protect the personal information we collect. While we take these precautions to safeguard your information, we cannot guarantee the security of the networks, systems, servers, devices, and databases we operate or that are operated on our behalf.
CROSS-BORDER DATA TRANSFER
We may collect, process, and store your information in the United States and other countries. The laws in the United States regarding information may be different from the laws of your country. Any such transfers will comply with safeguards as required by relevant law.
