You are the connector and amplifier of the ZGiRLS voice, making sure we show up consistently, honestly, and with a guiding presence. Your words help a parent decide to sign up for ZGiRLS because they trust that “we get it.” They help families feel supported once they are in our community, and they help our community feel connected to the middle school girls at the center of everything we do.

This role supports ZGiRLS’ growth by helping to:

  1. Bring new families into the ZGiRLS community in a way that feels easy

  2. Support parents and guardians with honest, practical guidance

  3. Build and support program enrollment through clarity & trust

  4. Maintain a consistent voice that feels warm, supportive and aligned with the ZGiRLS brand across all written communication

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Share program stories that build trust and spark interest, highlighting real experiences of girls and families.

  • Support growth of the ZGiRLS email list through website copy, sign-up prompts, and downloadable content.

  • Write and update enrollment-focused content, including program descriptions, FAQs, and registration-related copy, to reduce confusion and increase sign ups.

  • Support school-based outreach tools (such as Peachjar) as a shared responsibility with the Programs team, including copy support and coordination as needed.

Email Marketing

  • You will own parent-facing email communications, including:

    • Bi-weekly “Confidence Reps” emails that provide practical guidance for building girls’ confidence

    • Program recruitment emails that acknowledge the questions and hesitations parents may have, explain how ZGiRLS supports girls during a critical stage of growth, and offer a clear next step to join.

    • Program support emails, including confirmations, reminders, and follow-ups that help families feel informed and supported

    • Waitlist communications, including managing waitlist contacts and sending timely updates

    • Story driven and impact-focused emails that highlight program experiences, outcomes, and the voices of girls and families

  • Ensure email communication is clear, consistent, and aligned with current organizational priorities.

  • Balance enrollment focused emails with relationship building content.

  • Track and evaluate basic email performance (open rates, click-through rates, list growth) and use insights to improve clarity, timing, and effectiveness over time.

Seasonal Content Planning & Coordination

  • Develop a seasonal content and email marketing plan that supports current organizational priorities.

  • Present plans for review and approval by the Director of Programs and Executive Director.

  • Use past email performance data, program timelines, and relevant research on girls’ confidence to inform content choices.

  • Write coordinated email and website content, once approved.

  • Adjust content plans as programs, timelines, or organizational needs shift.

Content Creation, Research, & Storytelling

  • Write and publish one blog post per month aligned with program themes, confidence-building topics, or community stories.

  • Create one new downloadable resource per quarter (such as a guide, worksheet, or toolkit).

  • Write scripts and talking points for videos, as needed.

  • Conduct independent research on girls’ confidence, empowerment, and youth development to inform content and ensure messaging is accurate, relevant, and thoughtful.

  • Translate research and program insights into clear, practical content for families.

  • Collaborate with program staff to gather stories from girls, families, athletes, and facilitators that reflect real program experiences.

  • Support planning and content needs for ZGiRLS’ photoshoots and ongoing storytelling efforts.

  • Create and document clear processes for email list management, tagging, and campaign workflows.

  • Maintain an organized email communication calendar and coordinate closely with the fundraising team to ensure messaging is aligned and audiences are not overwhelmed.

  • Update and maintain website content related to programs, registration, and key organizational information, in coordination with other team members.

  • Ensure written content, systems, and processes are accurate, organized, and reliable.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills

  • Ability to explain ideas clearly and simply to busy parents and guardians

  • A natural instinct for warmth, clarity, and empathy in writing

  • Comfort talking honestly about confidence, emotions, and mental health

  • Comfort managing multiple projects and timelines

  • Collaborative, curious, and open to feedback

  • Ability to think about content as a way to help people take action

One final note:

ZGiRLS is a place for people who care deeply and believe that confidence is a skill every girl can build. Our families come from many backgrounds and walks of life, but they all want the same thing…they want their daughter to thrive and believe in herself. And they want guidance that feels supportive, doable, and free of judgment.

In a world that often feels noisy, overwhelming, and full of mixed messages, we believe clarity matters. If you believe your words can cut through the noise, simplify what feels confusing, and connect with people in a way that feels human and reassuring, we want to hear from you.

OUR VALUES

  • STRENGTH - We cultivate inner strength by embracing personal growth and embodying the ZGiRLS Curriculum™. We are willing to tackle uncomfortable conversations, rumble on tough decisions, and talk about our emotions.

  • SPORTS - We celebrate athleticism in all its forms. We believe that sports are for everyone and we appreciate our bodies for what they do.

  • ENERGY -  We live with an optimistic, resilient mindset and are aware of how our emotions impact our energy. Our attitudes are inspiring and genuine.

  • CHALLENGES - We view challenges as opportunities for growth and maintain our composure through setbacks. We choose courage over comfort by facing challenges instead of avoiding them.

  • TEAM - We communicate our needs and capabilities without judgment. We take ownership of our work responsibilities and understand how our actions affect the team.
