Olympic & NCAA skiers started ZGiRLS. Olympic & pro soccer players started Sweat™ Cosmetics. There’s no doubt that female athletes make winning entrepreneurs. Yet, according to Gatorade’s Keep Her in the Game initiative, one of the biggest reasons adolescent girls drop out of sport is a refocus of her time on things that will benefit her future self.
As a team effort, we kicked-off #ZGiRLSsweat series to show girls that the lessons they learn in athletics can translate to achieving their future ambitions! Today, you’ll meet Sweat Co-Founder, Leslie Osborne!
Name: Leslie Osborne (@leslieobsborne12)
Sport: US Women’s Soccer (@ussoccer_wnt), Chicago Red Stars (@chicagoredstars), Santa Clara University (@scubroncos)
Job: Co-Founder & Chief Communications Officer at Sweat Cosmetics (@sweatcosmetics), Fox TV Studio analyst (@foxsports)
My favorite way to sweat: run, hot yoga & pilates
The mental skill I practice the most is: goal setting 100%
Confidence is: my hard work and prep
When I fail or face self-doubt I: used to watch film of me playing well!
And I would tell my 12-year-old self: enjoy the moment and stop worrying about the future…be in the present!
I support ZGiRLS because: I have two baby girls and I value having confidence, positive role models, and sports in my life more than I ever have before.
A fun fact people don’t know about me: tennis was my strongest sport growing up…I picked soccer out of a hat in high school when my parents had me “focus” on a sport.
My coolest sports memories: representing my country, traveling around the world with my best friends and doing what I love. When I was younger, I cherish the car rides I had with my parents to club tournaments and practices. The best. (Pictured below: teammates and Sweat Co-Founders, Lindsay Tarpley and Leslie Osborne).
