Two hours. One hundred and fifty girls. One night. One goal: empower girls with confidence, courage, and community!
A few months ago, Issaquah Soccer Club approached Z Girls about hosting an event for all their 11-15 year old female athletes. They wanted to start this season off strong! They wanted to create a solid foundation of confidence, positivity, and support that the girls could build off throughout the season.
Although Z Girls had never held an event this size before, we enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity to host an Evening of Empowerment. We created a custom curriculum focused on building confidence, having a positive body image, and establishing a strong team dynamic. Twelve of our twenty-seven Z Girls Program Leaders came to work at the event!
The evening began with two Seattle Reign Players participating in a Q & A about the importance of teamwork. Next, an Olympian shared her triumphant story of going from injury to the Olympics in just ten months. For the rest of the evening, each team participated in a variety of interactive workbook exercises, games, reflections, visualizations, and team building activities.
Nights like this are the reason we started Z Girls! These girls are amazing and we feel blessed to have the opportunity to work with them. Here is what they had to say about the evening:
“I like that I got to bond with my team and that they helped me feel confident and loved.” – ISC ZGiRL
“I liked hearing peoples stories about their dreams. I also liked getting to know my team.” – ISC ZGiRL
“Tonight was extremely inspiring and positively motivated me in the most encouraging way possible. – ISC ZGiRL
